Modi’s macro actions have worked, now India needs micro focus.

After watching the video of the meeting broadcasted by TMC and reading the article on economic times, we can assume that the lockdown might extend for another two weeks.

Modi said that “the priority of the government is to save each and every life”.

But we need more weapons than just lockdown to fight with COVID-19.

Let’s read the opinion of Shekhar Gupta on Modi’s lockdown.

About three weeks back when India started testing selectively then they found that many people coming from overseas were tested positive along with their families that alarmed India to take such a massive action.

There was no major or widespread testing, India’s testing was very low compared to other countries ever lower than Pakistan which led to criticism.

Shekhar Gupta

This Indian lockdown is the severest n the world, the economist carried a chart based on studied by a group in Oxford which ranked the countries on a severity index on their response to COVID-19.

India topped the chart in the world, while India topped the chart according to the intensity of the lockdown, on the other side India was at the bottom of the chart when it came to a fiscal stimulus for the economy in terms of percentage of GDP.

So in severity, India was even ahead of Italy but in fiscal stimulus, India was lowest which you can understand because in the entire group India was by far the poorest of all other countries.

Must read:

In fact, the next poorest countries are China and Malaysia at five times per capita GDP than India.

India as it continues with the lockdown or extends it, it’s risky for the economy or our country. Though the upper or middle classes can overcome the lockdown, it’s the poor and farmers who will face difficulties as the engines of the economy have stopped. As many people live on daily wages for them the situation is critical, either not coronavirus hunger might kill them.

As Shekhar Gupta says unlike the US, India doesn’t have the ability to print money as Donald Trump is doing.

Let me explain, why

India follows a gold standard policy, under which every rupee is backed by a similar value of the gold reserve hence giving actual value to the piece of paper. On the other hand, almost all of the global trade happens over USD, as well as the US, being a resilient economy made it move away from Gold standards and instead make the ‘faith over the economy’ as it’s value driver.

What we need at this point now to find the major weapon or micro focus action and plan.

Also read:

Major possibilities to control, are:

  • Extend the lockdown
  • Completely lift the lockdown
  • Seal the hotspots and gradually lift the lockdown from other areas.

The third option might be a better option as some factories or companies will start fo work, like pharma factories which will again lead to commutation hence communication modes will start to operate but then the spreading of the virus can also spread faster.

So what’s your say in this, comment below. Let the nation know, citizen’s views.

Domestic Violence has increased during lockdown.

There are two sides to every coin, on one side you find a happy relationship where the married couples are happy as they are able to spend time together.

As we are in the lockdown phase, many women are stuck to their houses, everyone doesn’t seem to have a simple and happy life. Some do survive in this toxic environment, where they are abused by family members and as everyone has not much now, some become victim and a few love to create problems.

While people are avoiding the virus, they are also facing challenges by staying at home. Children are giving a hard time as they need a lot of attention and care, they love to play and get some time with friends. The lockdown has forced the kids to stay at home. They either watch television the whole day, fight with siblings, play at home or other problems.

During office con calls, I hear the voices of my seniors whole time asking their kids to be silent.

The kids don’t understand why their parents are unable to give them time when they are at home.

Women are in a greater risk of becoming a victim and similar incidents have been reported from different countries.

Based on my learnings from different articles shared by News18, The New York times, psychiatrists, views of my lawyer friends, opinions of some other friends and family members of mine, I thought of writing and sharing some useful tips:

But before I share the tips let’s first understand what are the different forms of abuse:

Abuse is not just about power and control, people do it out of the purpose to create troubles in other’s lives as well. A few families member can take advantage of this situation to create troubles in several ways, let’s see how:

  • Not providing shelter, driving them away from their house. Say Corona or no corona effect, we have witnessed such events where family members forced their daughter-in-law to leave the house which led her to live a miserable life.
  • Emotional and verbal abusing: Now as there is not much work, people have time, and instead of building and maintaining a healthy relationship a few choose to abuse others.
  • Family politics has increased, people have more time to call each other, gossip and play with other’s emotions leading to domestic terrorism or intimate terrorism.

I was taken aback when I read that a few are not providing masks to the women, allow them to wash hands or use sanitizer. They send the women out to buy groceries thinking that she might get infected by the virus and die.

Can you believe that? These Covidiots, don’t understand that if she contracts the same, all in her contact will also gets the same.

Many counties across the world like the UK, Brazil, Spain, China, the US, Italy, France, Australia etc are reporting a panicking rise.

As the burden of work for women has increased, rather than raising the hand to help, the perpetrators are loving to enjoy the time relaxing.

According to a sociologist who studies abusive relationships, domestic violence goes up whenever families spend more time together, such as the Christmas and summer vacations, she said.

As entire India is in a lockdown state, Neha found herself all the time in the kitchen working all the time and trying to resolve the problems or fighting with her husband.

In another house, Fatima is holding her 3 years and 11 years old child, her husband began to beat her and locked her along with the children in a room. The kids and mother are starving for three days.

Somewhere in Delhi, Twinkle’s husband got frustrated as he is unable to meet his friends, drink alcohol and enjoy outside food and releases his frustration on his wife, the poor girl was bleeding and marks were all over her body. As his husband chocked her, her neck was in pain.

According to a Beijing-based NGO dedicated to combating violence against women says that there are cases reported of insecure husbands, who are keeping their wives under surveillance.

My opinion:

I feel the cases are rising in countries like America, China and the UK as the women are brave enough to take a stand. In India, whenever a woman wants to make a decision, she first thinks about society, parents and children. Calling the police will be the last option.

According to The Guardian, in Hubei province, domestic violence has tripled down.

If you are reading this, please imagine:

  • Staying in fear with a person yet limited options to move away
  • Getting body-shamed and fat-shamed
  • Deliberate poking by family members to create trouble.
  • Abusing and criticising
  • Stating comments
  • Controlling by every means
  • Sexual assault.

A home which is the safest place to many but a few are trapped inside with an abuser.

Read what exactly Trump said rather than reading outlines

Sunday evening, President Trump requested to release the hold on hydroxychloroquine. Click on the link, to read in details:

http://romieducation.com/2020/04/06/trump-asks-modi-to-help/

Never thought of that by April, we will be heading to a disaster, the pandemic, Virus has already killed so many people all over the world.

According to Hindustan Times, President Donald Trump on Monday spoke of “retaliation” if India turned down his request to lift the hold on US orders.

I watched the entire video and at 30minutes 39 seconds a journalist asked the question, have a look:

Journalist: Are you worried about the retaliation to your decision to ban the export on medical goods like India Prime Minister Modi’s decision to not export hydroxychloroquine.

President Trump: I don’t like that decision, I have not heard that it was his decision. I only know that he stopped the export for his country. We are in very good talk, I’ll see if it’s like this because India does very well with the United States from many years it has been taking advantage of the United States on trade so I will be surprised if he has taken such decision. If he allows the supply then it’s okay but if he doesn’t then there will be retaliation, why wouldn’t there be?

Who is responsible for spreading so much of hatred and communalism?

Read the current Tweets on #communalism

People shared their displeasure on social media and when they did, they were trolled.

Irfan Pathan, who played for India was brutally trolled after he shared his displeasure over firing crackers.

He later shared some hate messages he received, have a look:

News on spitting and misbehaving by Tablighi Jamaat patients was fake

According to Indian Express, AIIMS Raipur has denied the spitting and misbehaviour or any such conduct by the Tablighi Jamaat patients.

This kind of news went viral in no time, even it was aired by TV channels.

Similar other fake news were spread like

  • Muslims spitting on food
  • Hiding in mosques to spread the coronavirus.
  • Even news channels like ANI were accused of fake news by Noida Police.
  • Jamatis asked for non-veg food
  • Jamatis defecated in open.
  • Muslim men are sneezing in open to spread the virus.

Where communalism and communal violence have become endemic in our society, it seems that the leadership lacks the will to fight it out with humanity. Out of all this devastation, there are a few who arose to help despite all the politics, communalism and inequalities.

Many celebrities and stars are helping the government to win over the war.

So here’s a case where a person is helping the poor and the needy by coming to be a voice. Rahul Jha on a daily basis receives a number of calls by poor or volunteers to provide them help and support by the government. He the then reaches out immediately to the higher authorities, share the details and help these people.

You can directly reach @JhaRahul_Bihar

The guy named Abdul called Rahul and asked for help, he was in deep trouble. Rahul tried many of his sources but many refused to support Muslims, others denied and some made excuses. Even some in authority were not ready to so Rahul then decided to reach out to the higher authorities and lastly, director of the disaster management to cognisance and immediately problems were resolved. Abdul received ration by 8:30 pm yesterday.

11 hours ago, Kamal Hasan wrote an open letter addressing our honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, 17.5 k tweeters liked and 5078 people retweeted by far.

Let’s see, what’s written in the letter:

His letter got a mixed response as many tweeters tweeted and tagged him, soon #KamalHasaan got trending

We have to introspect, why the society and we have become so polarised. We are dealing with a virus which doesn’t discriminate between rich and poor, Hindu or Muslim, caste, creed, gender or economic status.

Even the Prince, prime-minister of the UK were diagnosed positive. The virus even killed the member of the royal family from Spain. Is the USA government discriminating between black and white and holding somebody responsible for spreading the virus?

Then why are we?

Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin – the new super spreader of CoronaVirus.

Current updates:

As per India today, Markaz receives a huge amount from the Gulfs. The police and CBI are investigating the matter and checking the transactions.

The investigating agencies have sought a list of employees, plan or map, number of religious gathering, CCTV footage, audio-video recording and details of all devotees and foreigners who attended the Markaz after March 12 this year.

Social media and news channels are abuzz with the Nizamuddin Tablighi Jamaat, people are talking about it.

While reading all the articles, a few questions arise to my mind.

What is Tablighi Jamaat?

Why people are not understanding the meaning of Lockdown?

Why Indians are not ready to support the government? Staying at home or wearing a mask, sanitizing hands is it so difficult?

When this gathering held, where was the police?

What happened actually?

On March 13, 3400 people gathered at the Nizamuddin Markaz, a part in South Delhi. Not just Indians, people from different countries participated in this religious gathering.

On March 16, Arvind Kejriwal announced that more than 50 people are not allowed to assemble at one place till 31st March, but people at the Markaz defied that completely.

On March 20, in Telangana 10 Indonesians were tested positive, they were the part of the gathering in Delhi.

After the Janta Curfew, 1500 people vacated the Markaz. After the lockdown, police kept on asking the people to vacate the place yet they refused to.

An Indian who attended the gathering died in Srinagar, many were found positive. Police took immediate action even the WHO team also visited.

The Markaz officials responded that no new people were allowed to enter after the lockdown was announced, they were just following the rules as PM Modi himself mentioned during his speech to stay put wherever you are.

Current update:

Total of 10 deaths, out of that 9 are Indian and 1 foreign national.

Out of 1500, around 300 people are showing the symptoms of Coronavirus, as they are suffering from fever, cough and difficulty in breathing.

What is Tablighi Jamaat

It is an Islamic missionary movement that focuses on persuading Muslims to return to practising their religion during the lifetime of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad and especially in matters of ritual, dress and personal behaviour.

Steps are taken to overcome the tragedy:

  • States have also asked other people who attended to come forward for testing.
  • Delhi CM has asked to file a complaint against the head of the mosque.
  • The organizers say that they informed the local police and cooperated.
  • Tablighi Jamaat events have also been blamed for spreading cases in Indonesia and Malaysia.
